Large sand-stone, larger pointed mantle top, lying broken and flat on its back. Sacred / to the memory of / Captain Isaac DART, / of Maitland, Nova Scotia, / who died in Liverpool, June 14th 1867, / aged 55 years. / This stone is erected by his Nova Scotian / brothers, Ship Masters in port, as a tribute / of sincere regard and respect. / O’what pleasures there await us, / there, the oceans cease to roar, / there, it is, that those who hate us, / shall molest our peace no more. / Trouble ceases, / on that tranquil-happy shore. / Also of Rebecca, the beloved wife of / Captain Leonard C. DART, / (son of the above) / who died at sea, March 2nd 1874, aged 20 years. / Our life is …???…dawn, / its glorious …???… quickly past; / lead us, O …???… all is gone / safely home at last.
