In / remembrance / of / John ROWLAND, / a deserving and highly valued public servant / of the township of Toxteth Park, / who died December 15th 1858, aged 50 years. / This stone was erected by the Burial Board, / to the memory of one who, by the uprightness / and zeal with which he discharged his / public duties, and the kindness and / amiability of his private life was justly / entitled to the esteem of all who knew him. / Also of David 3rd son of the above / who died January 11th 1863, aged 19 years. / Also of John, the eldest son / who died at Hong Kong, July 10th 1865, aged 29 years. / And of Mary, wife of the above / who died May 1st 1872, aged 60 years.
